About the event

The Royal Windsor Triathlon is one of UK’s most legendary triathlons. It takes place in the Queen’s home town of Windsor in Berkshire.

The first Royal Windsor Triathlon was created in 1991, and 29 editions later is now firmly established as one of the top events in the triathlon calendar. Few triathlons can compare with the historical backdrop of Windsor Castle (one of three official residences of the Queen), the majestic River Thames, the green vista of the Long Walk and the stunning overall surroundings of Windsor.

This event contains an open road cycling route.

Why the Royal Windsor Triathlon?

With 30 years under our belts, the Royal Windsor Triathlon has been a mainstay throughout the growth of triathlon the UK. In the recent years, sports stars such as Jonny Wilkinson, Tanni Gray-Thompson, Gareth Thomas and Jenson Button have all taken part in the event and we’ve been blessed to host triathlon royalty and actual royalty alike, in the form of Princess Beatrice.

Awarded BTFs ‘Event of the Year’ a remarkable seven times, this prestigious triathlon has stood the test of time with its quality delivery, picturesque location and great event village atmosphere. The event continues to go from strength to strength selling out at it’s largest ever capacity in 2022. We love it, we hope you’ll love it too.

Where is the event?

The Royal Windsor Triathlon has a stunning course that encompasses some fantastic sights. The historic town is situated just to the west of London.

Starting with a swim in the River Thames (watch out for swans!), triathletes then ride a bike route that heads through the streets of historic Windsor, passing Windsor Castle, and out into the surrounding countryside. To complete their challenge, participants will then run into Windsor Great Park and along the spectacular Long Walk in the shadow of the iconic castle. A truly ‘royal’ route, and one that will linger in the memory. You can find out more about the route here.
